Acticare TSE

Acticare TSE is a professional grade electrotherapy machine which is ten times more powerful than the handheld TENS devices that you can buy on the high street.

Based on patented TSE technology, it uses electrical pulses to suppress pain signals in the spinal cord.

In addition to pain relief, TSE has been shown to improve mood, making people feel more relaxed, leisurely, and less tense.

Model 9180 Gradient Amplifier

This is a DC coupled audio amplifier and power supply designed for NMR and MRI research applications. The average power output is 3kW, peak power output is 30kW (180A, 170V). It has extremely good frequency and time domain performance and very low noise levels. Small signal bandwidth is 40kHz and over-shoot less than 0.5%, output noise is less than 0.5mA in a 30kHz bandwidth. Innovative feedback methods allow the output to be independent of load eddy current effects and load thermal changes. The output stage is a linear bridge with a switched power rail, the amplifier has a comprehensive fault protection system using a floating point DSP.

banks of 12 for the SPring-8 synchrotron.

Servo Motor Drive 40A 400V

This is a 3 phase DC servo motor drive for Optimised Control Ltd. It is on a double eurocard format.

Switch-mode Gradient Amplifier for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

We designed several generations of these products for a supplier to a major medical imaging company.

This photo shows a set of 3 prototype amplifiers from
the first generation, these are 50kW output each (165A and 300V).

‘HyperAmp’ Gradient Amplifier

This is a 100kW gradient amplifier designed for whole body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) systems for a major medical imaging company.

It’s a switch-mode DC coupled audio frequency amplifier with 100kW (340A 300V) output. The effective switching frequency is 300kHz. Soft switching techniques make this a highly reliable amplifier with extremely low noise output. Innovative feedback techniques give a superior bandwidth and dynamic performance independent of load eddy current effects. The chassis is a 340mm high 19” rack mount unit.

Prototype system under test, with happy engineer!
2 amplifiers are used per channel, with a total of 6 per system.

Voltage/Current Measurement Card

This is a double eurocard DSP based product used on a flying probe PCB test system. Under the control of a PC it can output various waveforms from various source impedances through a relay matrix, to one of 8 probes as a stimulus to the PCB under test. The response of the circuit can be acquired through the relay matrix from 8 Kelvin probes, the response is then downloaded to a PC for analysis. The product also has a complete self test capability.

RMAT Radio Measurement Analysis Tool

This is a software tool that provides archiving of data and numerous calculation capabilities on radio data generated in a Fixed Wireless Access system for a major telecoms company.

RMAT can read in live data about a wireless system and its radio environment in several formats. The data can be viewed and plotted in numerous ways. Through various transformations parameters of interest can be plotted for example RSSI, vector error, adjacent channel interference etc.. Hypothetical system parameter changes can be made and the effect of this on system performance can be seen. RMAT also has a geographical mapping capability.

RMAT is a database written in Microsoft Access and Visual Basic.

TCAT Traffic Capacity Analysis Tool

This is a software tool designed to provide traffic analysis and forecasting on an Internet Fixed Wireless Access product for a major telecoms company.

TCAT can read hourly traffic statistics from many base stations. It can perform numerous calculations including traffic intensity and blocking probability, and provide forecasting for several alternative system configurations. Data is presented numerically or graphically and there is an archive capability based on various selection criteria.

TCAT is a database written in Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and Pascal

Apollo

This is a database for system test documentation for a major telecoms company.

It allows system test engineers to maintain details of test plans, test requirements, and test outcomes etc. on complex hardware and software products. Test activities can be closely monitored by project management. It also has links into the companies web based bug tracking system.

Apollo is a database written in Microsoft Access and Visual Basic.
